For most home sticker makers, the Epson EcoTank ET-2800 is the sensible starting printer: it uses refillable ink tanks, feeds letter-size sheets from the rear, and Epson lists it at under $250 (Amazon sells the matching ET-2803 for less). Choose the Canon PIXMA G620 if you want six inks and a manual that names Canon photo sticker papers, the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 if you need 13 x 19 inch sheets or thick media, and the Brother HL-L3280CDW only if you will buy laser-rated sticker stock.

The printer is only one part of a sticker. The sheet, the ink or toner, any laminate, and the cutter decide how the finished sticker looks and how it holds up. Buy for the sheets you plan to use.

Amazon sellers were checked on October 3, 2026, and prices change often.

1. Epson EcoTank ET-2800: best budget sticker printer

The ET-2800 is the low-cost way to print sticker sheets regularly without buying cartridges. Epson’s user guide covers the ET-2800 and ET-2803 together, so the ET-2803 sold by Amazon (Amazon search) is the same printer family at a lower price than the ET-2800 listings, which were sold by third-party sellers when checked.

What the documents say:

  • Four inks: cyan, magenta, yellow and black, refilled from T522 bottles. Epson rates a replacement set at 4,500 black and 7,500 color ISO pages, and notes that part of the first bottles is used to charge the print head.
  • Paper loads from a rear paper support. The guide lists user-defined sizes from 2.12 x 3.39 inches up to 8.5 x 47.24 inches.
  • Epson lists plain paper from 17 to 24 lb and says it cannot guarantee non-Epson papers, so test one sheet of your sticker stock before buying a full pack.

Trade-offs: ISO page yields are measured on office documents, not full-coverage sticker art, so expect fewer sheets. The guide also warns against paper that is too thick or curled, which rules out heavy specialty stock.

2. Canon PIXMA G620: best for photo-quality sticker sheets

The PIXMA G620 (Amazon search) suits illustrated or photo-style stickers. Its manual shows six ink tanks (yellow, magenta, cyan, red, black and gray), and its supported media list includes Canon Photo Stickers (PS-108 and PS-208), Removable Photo Stickers (PS-308R), Restickable Photo Paper and Magnetic Photo Paper.

  • Canon’s load-limit table says to feed those sticker papers one sheet at a time in the rear tray.
  • Custom sizes run from 2.17 x 3.50 inches to 8.5 x 47.24 inches.
  • Plain paper is listed from 17 to 28 lb.

Trade-offs: feeding one sticker sheet at a time is slow for big batches. Third-party sticker paper isn’t on Canon’s list, so test it first.

3. Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550: best for large sheets and thick media

Choose the ET-8550 when letter size is the limit. Epson’s product page lists borderless prints up to 13 x 19 inches, cardstock and other specialty media up to 1.3 mm thick, automatic two-sided printing, and a six-color Claria ET Premium ink system. Epson’s list price is under $750.

Search Amazon for the Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 . The Amazon offers we checked were from third-party sellers, so confirm the seller, condition and warranty before ordering.

Trade-offs: it costs about three times as much as the ET-2800. A 13 x 19 inch sheet is also bigger than many home cutters can register, so check your cutter’s Print Then Cut page size first.

4. Brother HL-L3280CDW: best toner-based option

The HL-L3280CDW replaces the HL-L3270CDW from the earlier version of this guide, which Brother now lists as discontinued. Brother lists labels and glossy paper among its supported media and describes a single-sheet manual feed slot for specialty media such as labels and envelopes. Both the tray and the manual slot take 16 to 43 lb bond paper, and the manual slot accepts custom sizes from 3.0 to 8.5 inches wide and 4.57 to 14 inches long.

Trade-offs: use only sticker or label sheets rated for laser printers. Cricut says laser printing works for materials made to withstand the heat. Toner doesn’t make paper stickers waterproof, and this is a larger machine than the inkjets (Brother lists a 33.9 lb unit weight).

How to choose a sticker printer

  1. Pick the sheet first. Inkjet sticker paper and printable vinyl need an inkjet. Laser label sheets need a laser printer. Check the sheet maker’s printer requirements.
  2. Match the cutter. Cricut recommends inkjet printers for Print Then Cut. It also says the Explore Air 2 and older machines need non-reflective matte white or transparent materials, because glossy or dark surfaces stop the sensor from reading cut marks.
  3. Count the size you actually need. Letter-size printers cover most die-cut sticker sheets. Only the ET-8550 here goes to 13 x 19 inches.
  4. Treat waterproof as a material question. None of these manufacturers sells its printer as a waterproof sticker system. Durability comes from the media and any laminate you add, so test a finished sample before you promise it to buyers.

Changes in this update

The Brother HL-L3270CDW was replaced with its current successor, the HL-L3280CDW. The Brother MFC-J4335DW and Epson SureColor P700 were dropped. The MFC-J4335DW has no sticker-specific advantage over the picks above, and the ET-8550 now covers 13 x 19 inch output at a lower list price.

Frequently asked questions

Can a laser printer make stickers?

Yes, if the sticker or label sheet is rated for laser printers. Brother lists labels as a supported media type for the HL-L3280CDW’s manual feed slot, and Cricut says laser printing works with materials made to withstand laser heat. Never run inkjet-only printable vinyl through a laser printer.

Which printer works best with Cricut Print Then Cut?

Cricut recommends an inkjet printer for Print Then Cut. Any of the three inkjets here can print the sheet. Check that your cutter can read the cut-sensor marks on the finish you choose: Cricut says glossy or reflective materials interfere with the sensor on the Explore Air 2 and older machines.
